Poppleton & Appleby :: About Us

Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners

Our Insolvency Credentials

In 1885, five years after the incorporation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, two of its founder members, George Poppleton and Charles Appleby joined together to form an accountancy practice specialising in insolvency.

Over the ensuing 100 years and more, our proficiency in the specialist insolvency field combined with a sensitive, client-focussed approach has helped us to become one of the UK's largest independent insolvency practitioners. We are located in Central Manchester, with affiliation to other insolvency offices throughout the country and a comprehensive network of agents across the UK.

We are structured to handle any insolvency situation to produce the optimal outcome for the client.

Why Choose P&A?

  • As independent insolvency practitioners one of our major strengths is that we have no audit connection whatsoever and therefore have no allegiance to any individual trade creditor, bank or financial institution.
  • With our vast bank of experience in insolvency matters we have a proven track record of delivering optimal outcomes in a diverse range of industries and asset values from thousands of pounds through to seven figure sums.
  • As a client you will be in the hands of a team led by one of our partners. You will find us pragmatic, responsive and creative whilst always employing a common-sense approach. Our aim is to always achieve a realistic, cost effective solution to maximise recovery, to protect the interests of all and to preserve businesses as going concerns.
